Use It or Lose It

Use it or you will lose it.

This old adage definitely applies to our habits.

It might be when we go on holidays, or we get sick, or simply a change in routine, that can result in a temporary drop in our habits.

A day or two in a regular and embedded habit might not be an issue, but extend for too long and we can find the journey back difficult and frustrating. We can find ourselves back in the pattern of false starts and getting stuck.

Accepting that life happens, and that we’re human (not machines!) means we can give ourselves grace as we ease our way back in to those habits.

With established habits, we can go forward with confidence of our ability to reclaim them.

Perhaps we can turn that saying around to:

If we happen to lose it, let’s restart to use it.
