Take A Break
You must enjoy having time to do nothing.
These words were spoken to my son at the commencement of school break, although they could well apply to all of us.
We all need a break from the normal routine and it offers us more than a change of scenery and an opportunity for rest and relaxation.
It changes how we think and feel and do things.
It switches ‘have to’ to ‘get to’.
It removes guilt and expectation.
It allows time to open up and feel expansive.
It invites wonder and curiosity, the chance to go deeper, the desire to wander and explore.
And, we can apply this to an exciting getaway, a family lunch, reading our favourite book, binging the latest series, playing a game with our kids, or insert any one of the things that happen during a break.
When we’re doing any (or all) of these things on our break, we do them without conflicted thoughts of ‘is there enough time?’, ‘I have to get up early tomorrow’, ‘this isn’t on today’s to-do list’. When we feel more relaxed, we can find our way more readily to yes.
A break truly is good for us.
I’m curious, how you might enjoy time to do nothing - or something - this holiday period?
