Do You See What I See?

Do you see what I see?

It’s unlikely. After all, we’re looking through a different set of eyes.

As Stephen Covey aptly put it, we see the world as we are.

Which is why it is a useful practice to ask others what they see. And, when we listen to their answers with a curious and open mind, it’s amazing what we might discover.

It may challenge a long-held view. It may reinforce what we see. It may help us change our mind. It may present a new idea or opportunity.

When you tell me that the view from your eyes sees trouble and stuck-ness and failure and unmet expectations, I am tempted to ask …

Ah, but do you see what I see?
