Freedom from routine

There’s much conjecture as to whether dogs can tell time or not. One thing is for sure, my dog Flash has certain times of day that he will do certain things.

As part of his routine are things like waking us up for his morning walk, knowing when to start “asking” for dinner and waiting by the kettle at certain times of day.

I used to think routines were something to be avoided unless absolutely necessary and that they constrained my freedom.

When I reframed this I was able to see that having daily, weekly, monthly and annual routines allows me the freedom to achieve all the things that I want and need to AND allow the space and freedom for sponteneity and creativity. The rhythm of work and life changed forever.

Our animals really can teach us a thing, or two. What lessons have you learned from an unexpected source?
