Emergency Confetti

What’s in your pocket?

If you’re like the 8 year old I was reading about in a social media post, you’re carrying emergency confetti.

Emergency confetti?

[Yes, I can see your quizzical eyebrow raise 😉]

When asked why she was carrying confetti in her pocket, the young girl answered: it’s my emergency confetti, I carry it everywhere in case there is good news.

The good news is that we can all carry some metaphorical confetti in our pocket (or real confetti, if you’d prefer 😁) for these moments.

The research supports what we intrinsically know about the importance of recognition, positive feedback and celebration in the workplace, in that it is a key factor behind higher

retention,

engagement, and

motivation.

Despite this, we also know there’s far too little of it going on.

What say we all fill our pockets with a little emergency confetti ready for those moments worth recognising and celebrating.

Now there’s a change worth making, don’t you agree.
