Discom-bobulation

If you can’t convince them, confuse them.

This is the opening slide for The Discombobulation Method of Change Management training program.

Whilst not an actual program (as far as I know 😉) it’s definitely a practice adopted by many.

Its adoption is justified by the underlying assumptions made.

The second slide in the deck reads:

... everyone hates change
... we know best
... open communication will lead to questions and resistance

Except that humans are quite used to, and adept at, change. We adapt and change all the time. The world around us adapts and changes all the time.

As Peter Senge writes, “people don’t resist change, they resist being changed.”

It’s time for some combobulation, don’t you agree.
