Dare To Care

“I don’t care!”

This definitive statement was one I overheard today as I passed by a child and their parent walking to their car. I smiled at the matter of fact way the child delivered it and thought about how often those words are spoken (and sometimes cried, or shouted) by children the world over.

It also got me thinking about the role of care in our workplaces.

I’ve also witnessed, more often than I’d like to have, unfortunately the “I don’t care!” attitude in action from individuals and teams.

Yet, care can make our workplaces better.

Caring about our team’s (and company’s) goals,

Caring about the work we do,

Caring about our customers,

Caring about improvements and changes,

Caring about our fellow team members, and

Caring about our own growth and development

Are just some of the ways that daring to care matters. I care about workplaces that care, how about you?
