Curiously Productive

Curiosity isn’t productive.

These words from a colleague relaying the zig-zag start to their day.

It’s true, as the saying goes, that curiosity leads us down new paths. And, it’s true, that it can feel unproductive wandering down those new paths.

My colleague’s curiosity took them from discovering some helpful information in an article, to a website that gave them a possible solution to a tricky problem, to the “there’s an app for that” implementation, to the discovery of new information that was helpful for a broader project they are working on.

The curiosity that leads to zigging here, and zagging there is an important path to learning, discovery and problem solving.

I’d say that’s a productive start to any day, don’t you agree!
