A Glorious Mess

“What a glorious mess!”

These words were from a friend referring to a delicious cooking experiment.

They are equally apt for those of us rounding up the first week or two of work in the new year.

Refreshed from our break, we are coming in with energy and enthusiasm for what the new year holds.

There’s also a tad of regret that the break is over and our focus must return to the list with its mix of carry-over tasks and our new year’s goals. Despite our energy, there’s a real struggle to regain our daily rhythm and focus.

Multiplied within our teams and workplaces and we have that ‘glorious mess’ akin to a buzzing kitchen where new dishes are being created and ingredients are everywhere.

Yes, we do get a tasty meal on the table despite the chaotic and messy energy, but we know in another week or two, the rhythm and harmony returns. And that is glorious indeed.
