Super Productive

Things that make you go hmmm….

The social media post encouraging me to read an article on “super productive people” asks: did you know most people lose an average of two seconds per minute of work by using their mouse instead of keyboard shortcuts?

Now, I’m all for an interesting tech hack or some time saving tips and ideas for the everyday tasks at work.

And, I’m also for perspective.

Two seconds per minute. In an average working day, we’re talking about 16 minutes.

Hmmm…

I wonder, where is the push to become a super productive person, as opposed to the regular variety productive person coming from? C-suite execs; Team leaders; Productivity gurus; All of us?

I’m curious, what sort of roles are focused on not losing 16 minutes of working time?

I’m interested in what gaining 16 minutes per day at work might mean for people? An hour or so to dedicate to a more meaningful and deeper thinking task; being able to leave the office / switch the computer off at a decent time; a moment to catch our breath between being “super productive”?

And, I’m exploring what is the inverse of the super productive person at work? When is it better to be saying that we are aiming to give more time, energy and focus to this particular task?

These questions and more are what I’ll be pondering in the work week ahead. What’s on your list of things that make you go hmmm…?
