Risky Optimism
Simon Sinek states: take the risk of optimism.
This reminds me of the glass half empty vs glass half full discussion. And just as I'd argue that the glass is refillable, so is optimism.⠀
⠀
We have a choice as to what story we tell ourselves about life, work, the world. Anything, really. We can choose to see the world through a pessimistic lens, looking for what is wrong or may go wrong. ⠀
⠀
Or we can choose optimism. Being a good finder. Being grateful. Seeing possibilities. Seizing opportunities. Looking for what is right, or what may go well.⠀
⠀
And when we feel pessimism creeping in, we can choose to empty that cup and refill it with optimism.
I’m curious how many of us are willing to take the risk of optimism at work and in life.
