Recurring Surprise
It’s plum time.
In my garden I have a number of ornamental plum trees. In the first year in our house, the trees were covered in plums. We were told that they are a flowering variety which should only bear fruit in exceptional circumstances.
We have been in our house 10 years now, and every year about this time, we see the first few plums appear.
They are a reminder that:
Nothing is absolute;
Exceptional circumstances can occur more often than we think;
We can learn to expect the unexpected;
Calendars and watches aren’t the only way to tell the time; and
Our ornamental plums have been a pleasant, recurring surprise.
I’m curious, it might not be plums, but when have you been pleasantly surprised?
