Old and New

Today I was walking past some office buildings that I once worked in.

The entire area seems unchanged. Many of the buildings in the area were old then, and they don’t look any different today.

Walking into a coffee shop in one building it was clearly evident that the insides were different. Renovated, modern and in stark contrast to the dated outer facade.

It’s a similar experience when we experience organisations and their cultures.

The outer facing symbols may feel unchanged and we presume that it is  the same as it has always been.

It’s always wise to step inside and see where we can find symbols that represent the new and different. Change isn’t always obvious, but it is usually there when we choose to look a little closer.
