Nothing is Something

“Doing nothing is very hard to do … you never know when you’re finished”

This quote from actor Leslie Nielsen makes me laugh.

But he’s right, some of us find it difficult to do nothing. When you’re the sort of person who stresses out at the thought of spending some time without any purposeful activity, you have to step lightly into it.

Our comfort comes from the story we choose to tell ourselves, starting with the reality that even when we’re doing nothing, we’re doing something.

So, what might doing nothing look like for you?

Laying on the couch staring at the ceiling.

Taking a nap.

Reading a book.

Going for a walk.

Staying away from screens.

Playing a game with the kids.

Or _____________________ [fill in the blank]

And write your own story of doing nothing
