No More Shoulds
Everywhere we turn there is a should.
We are all bombarded with messages telling us:
what we should think
what we should feel
how we should behave
Many of these messages come from others. Other people’s expectations and rules can easily become our own inner voice of “shoulds”.
They become messages of:
I should think X
I should feel Y
I should be like Z
What if the telling were to become asking? When others ask us - with curiosity, empathy and care - what we are thinking, feeling and doing, it builds our inner courage and conviction against the barrage of “shoulds”.
I think it’s time to lift the weight of should off our shoulders. I’m curious, what you think?
