Long Game

It feels good to finish something. To tick that item off the list. To file something away. To ship something. To complete a project. We’ve been trained to see this as a symbol of our achievement.

Except that most of work and life isn’t finite. We get to the end of a day, or week, or month, or year and we’re not there yet. It can be difficult to accept that there remains much to do.

Here are 3 things you can do at these times:

1️⃣ Celebrate something - a milestone, daily progress, or whatever. Even if we know it’s a smaller part of a bigger thing, giving our brains the sense of accomplishment that comes with crossing something off the list or ticking the finished box is helpful;

2️⃣ Remember the long game - a reminder to ourself that there is always tomorrow, next week, next month and next year. With the important parts of work and life there is always a TBC.

3️⃣ Loop back to 1 and 2 😁

It reminds me of the Confucious saying, “it does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop”

Don't stop. Keep going.

To be continued.
