Lifelong Learning

Being a lifelong learner.

This was part of the answer to: what are you looking for in a new team member?

When we consider what it takes to be a lifelong learner, the focus is usually on the learning part. It is about being a person who goes beyond their formal learning opportunities and continues to acquire new skills and knowledge throughout life.

Lifelong learning is a key 21st century workplace skill and in my experience, embodies 3 important qualities:

Learning (what new knowledge and skills will help me to continuously improve and develop?);

Unlearning (what behaviours and habits do I need to let go of if I am to change and grow?); and

Relearning (what are the recurring, iterative lessons in work and life that benefit me now and into the future?)

I’m curious, what learning, unlearning and relearning are you doing right now?
