Lessons Learned

Have we learned anything?

In three separate articles I read, a version of this question is asked.

Why?

Because in each example the writer is citing examples of behaviour that suggest the answer is no. No, we have not learned anything.

The reasons why are complex. Most things related to people, learning and change are. It is okay to be understanding toward these complexities, and to feel some frustration and determination for a different outcome.

The good news is that it’s possible to create conditions where learning and change is made easier.

When we make it safe for people to curiously ask questions, explore, analyse, discover and reflect,

When we are open to new ideas, different solutions, playing and experimenting, and

When we celebrate and reward learning and change,

The opportunity for new, different and better opens up.

Now there’s a lesson worth learning, don’t you agree?!
