Just Ask It

May I ask a question?

You just did.

Yes, this over-used joke is likely to elicit a groan, or two.

It also raises an interesting observation about questions themselves.

The tentative tip-toeing,

request for permission, and

almost pre-emptive approach

when it comes to questions suggests that interest and curiosity via questions are not always welcome.

It isn’t surprising. The innate curiosity and wonder of our childhood selves is slowly and surely shut down in most settings as we go through life.

Questions get a bad rap.

What if we were to get back to the bold and bright questions of our younger selves? What interesting and innovative discussions and discoveries might ensue?

It might be time to just ask it and see, don’t you agree?!
