I Can Try!

Oh, I can’t do that.

These words followed the suggestion: touch your toes.

A personal trainer friend had recently shared a video. In the first attempt, the person was a long way from touching their toes. They proceeded with another 9 stretching attempts, closing the gap with each one. On the final attempt their fingers grazed the top of their toes.

We’re quick to jump in with an “I can’t do that” response to something we’ve not done in a while, or ever.

What if we changed that response to “I can try!”

Add a few practice attempts, and I wonder what gap might we be able to close?
