Get to vs Have to

Most school-aged children grumble endlessly about homework. I get it. After all, they are required to spend part of their down time doing extra work on something that doesn’t interest them.
Out in the “real world”, when we are doing work we love, then our work doesn’t feel like a chore.

It moves from being a “have to” to a “get to”.

We get to learn more about an area we’re passionate about.

We get to use our skills and experience to help others.

We get to dig deeper and understand new things.

We get to be of service to our customers, colleagues and communities.

We get to solve interesting and complex problems.

When we “get to” do all of these things it is fun and challenging, rewarding and meaningful.

What is that you “get to” do that makes work work for you?
