Et cetera, Et cetera

Et cetera.

In our work and lives there is much et cetera.

As we attempt to define, clarify, or simply list all of it, it can become too much. Et cetera becomes the shorthand for overwhelm, overwork and the too-hard basket.

It can also be a place for things to hide.

When we pause to reflect and take stock, it helps to consider the main things and all of the other things. To resist the urge to bundle it into the et cetera area.

It’s like any cleanup project we might embark upon. Messy, tedious, and ever-so satisfying to find and ditch the things we no longer need.

If you find yourself taking a pause as the week ends, what might you find hiding in the et cetera of your work and life?
