Comparison Traps

Comparisonitis.

Apparently even our four-legged friends can fall into its trap. Okay, I do mean their owners 😉

I chuckled as I stood on the sideline of my son’s weekend sporting match and the discussion turned to dog behaviour.

“Oh, my dog would never stay that still and quiet …”

“Look at how calm your dog is …”

“Stop licking everyone … can’t you be more like this doggo …”

Despite knowing it’s not good for us, we humans have a tendency to compare ourselves to others.

Ironically, our four-legged friends seem to embody the Theodore Roosevelt sentiment that “comparison is the thief of joy” and are more than content in their individuality.

Perhaps it is time to follow suit, don’t you agree.
