Bring The And
Check your “or” at the door.
Sometimes I make, what feels like, a big mistake: I read the comments section on a news story.
Although instead of disappearing into the giant sinkhole, I take the opportunity to observe our human tendency for the binary.
This OR that.
Black OR white.
Right OR wrong.
We see this tendency play out in many parts of work and life, not simply in online environments.
Things, of course, are more complex and nuanced than “or” allows us to see.
When we check our “or” at the door, bring “and” in its place, I wonder how we might open the door to greater understanding, connection and growth.
