Simplified Change

When we are browsing in a shop (online or otherwise) it is tempting to purchase the item with all of the bells and whistles. Even when we don’t need them.

Same goes at work, and in life, when we are seeking a fairly simple change.

Consider the example of getting organised for the year ahead, one of many topics we get bombarded with this time of year.

It is easy to get sucked into reading almost every article on organisation methods and life hacks. It is easy to download app after app on to your phone. It is easy to sink hours and hours of time and energy into saving time and energy.

Whatever the change, ask: what is the minimum viable solution or path forward? What do I need, and moreso, what don’t I need?

When it comes to getting organised, for some of us, our solution lies in a sheet of paper and a pen. Or a simple, digitalised version of the same.

It reminds me of the Confucius saying:

life is really simple but we insist on making it complicated.

Have you simplified the change you seek to make?
