The Math Of Change
The board reads:
2 + 2 = 4
and
3 + 1 = 4
No, it isn’t a math lesson.
It’s a change lesson.
One of the biggest obstacles to change is that of a fixed mindset. Defending “the” way we do things around here, and restricting the opportunity to find different ways to achieve results, keeps us stuck in the status quo.
We can eliminate those obstacles when we
… realise there are many paths to the same destination;
… accept that our preferred path might not be the best path; and
… encourage ourselves, and our teams, to try a different path.
Who said math doesn’t teach us anything useful! How might you use this lesson to find a different, and better, path forward?
