Teams at Work

Quiet people have the loudest minds.

I was reminded of this Stephen Hawking quote today when facilitating a team meeting.

As with most diverse teams, there was a good mixture of robust discussion and a couple of people who were content to listen more than speak.

As we went about recording the outcomes of the meeting, one of the quieter team members shared detailed observations and summary of the discussion that had taken place. The team were grateful for this person’s ability to listen closely and discern the important outcomes.

Teams work best when we respect and value the diverse qualities and skills each member brings, and it’s always a pleasure to see it in action.
