Play The Game

Play the game!

There are plenty of games to play in work and life.

We may feel compelled to play them in our quest for greater ease, less conflict and stress.

We may fear the negative consequences from not playing the game.

We may see playing the game as a form of game playing in itself.

Playing the game often feels like one of those unspoken rules of work and life. Just play the game, we hear from well-meaning others.

Yet, playing the game is a choice we make.

Sometimes that choice - in context, and in service of something bigger - is the choice to make. Other times, it is a choice that clashes with our values, beliefs and goals.

When we remember that it is not a rule, it provides us with the freedom to make the choice we need to.

As you reflect on the week that was, where might you reconsider the games you did, or did not, play?
