Paradox Of New

New notebooks rock.

And, new notebooks suck.

Such is the paradox for the stationery-lovers like me #IYKYK

I considered this tension as I cracked open a new, new notebook this week. Of course, it’s not really the notebook. The clue is in the ‘new’.

Anything new can have us experiencing the same push-pull of emotions. The blank page of a new notebook is simply a visual reminder that when we are ready to launch into something new with all of its endless possibility, along with uncertainty and unknowns, it can leave us feeling this way.

We might ask ourselves how ready we really are. We might be concerned about making a mistake. We might want to have it all worked out before we fill the pages with something.

And, we might simply take our pen and begin.
