Oops Moments

Oops.

So read the subject line of the email I received, alerting me to an error made in the previous message.

It wasn’t a big deal, and they could have let it go. That they chose to acknowledge, apologise and correct it is worth noting.

We are often told that mistakes are a big deal with insincere apologies or avoidance a common response.

And yet we often see more understanding and empathy to an everyday mistake than we expect. After all, mistakes are simply a part of being human.

Perhaps getting more comfortable with those “oops” moments might be one of the steps to make work and life a little more human, don’t you agree.
