Duck Wrangling

Where are my ducks?

I smiled when I saw the familiar meme about getting one’s ducks in a row.

We’ve all been there at some point … not knowing where our ducks are, having one waddle off, and perhaps even wondering if one of our ducks is a pigeon!

Of all the shoulds that land on our shoulders, getting our ducks in a row is a big one. It occupies a lot of our time and energy, and it can be seen as a symbol of success and achievement.

Getting our ducks in a row is akin to the illusion of control and is a pressure worth questioning.

Instead,

… what if we were to respect the haphazard nature of ducks and their unwillingness to always (ever) be in rows?

… what if we were to recognise that it isn’t a sign of failure and more a sign of life?

… what if we were to resist the pressure of being the best duck wrangler in the world, and perhaps just let some of those ducks run free?
