Delightfully Sidetracked
I was delightfully sidetracked!
When a writing colleague used this term, I was delighted for him, and a little envious.
After all, I’m more likely to hear statements like:
I couldn’t focus!
I’m procrastinating!
I haven’t achieved anything!
Of course, there is a cost when we view getting sidetracked only as a negative. We end up focusing on the gap, and not the gain.
My curious colleague was rewarded with something as - perhaps more - valuable as would focusing on his original intention have been. We curious people are often sidetracked on our way to a new discovery, or two, and that is delightful indeed.
It’s the weekend and I’m curious, how might it be an opportunity to be delightfully sidetracked?
