Choose Your Own …
Let’s make this a ‘choose your own adventure’ week.
I grew up reading choose your own adventure books.
[If you’re not familiar, they are a series of fiction novels where the reader gets involved in the story at certain decision points along the way, and the story changes depending upon your answer to each question.]
I love them.
I love the mystery and variety embedded into the stories (I could read and re-read these stories and create new and exciting endings).
I love that my decision making could influence the direction of the story (I got to wonder what I wanted to do in each scenario).
I love that they modelled a growth mindset (in hindsight, they allowed me to be excited and comfortable with multiple, complex scenarios and to enjoy exploring all the different options).
Work and life is a choose your own adventure story. We get to make decisions, consider options, venture forth with curiosity and intent, and experience the wonder and joy of the adventure unfolding. All the while knowing that in a few pages (hours/days/weeks) we get to choose again and keep the story going.
As we prepare for a new week, I’m curious, what adventure might you choose to embark upon?
